Interview

How many languages do you speak? Please write them in a list. Which is your mother tongue?

My mother tongue is Bulgarian, I also speak German and English.

What is your favorite sport or hobby in your free time? Why is it so? Any interesting stories on it?

I have tried various sports in the past (combat sports, volleyball, swimming), but I did not manage to turn it into a hobby and a habit. In my free time, I like to be in nature, watching birds, animals, and plants, listening to their specific sounds, and trying to recognize them. It happened in unpleasant weather conditions I spent 10 hours in the mountains to see or hear an animal.

Top 3 things we don’t know about you? Might be something funny, quirky or strange 🙂

  1. I cannot live without music! I love going to rock concerts, it gives me a strong energy of the people around me. I also played the violin for over 9 years /4-6 hours daily/, a very difficult but divine instrument.
  2. I love motorbikes! I like to ride old-school bikes, but I also like to drive. The feeling of freedom and touching yourself through the road is irreplaceable.
  3. I have a tattoo of my dog: a crazy Jack Russell Terrier. We have saved each other’s lives more than once. He’s called Cooper and he’s named after a rock star. I was listening to one very popular song by Alice Cooper when the dog barked for the first time as a baby 😊.

What was the most surprising thing you learned about Asia while working here?

I’m still very much at the beginning, but from reading this far I’m impressed by how much hard alcohol they drink in Korea. Of course, what impresses me the most is the sheer volume of languages, dialects, and idioms in Asia.

Favorite book or a book that changed your mindset and why it did?

I have been addicted to reading since I was a child. But different authors and their works have influenced my life to varying degrees depending on what stage of development I am in and in what emotional state.

Your most extreme experience so far in your life/biggest challenge in your life?

I don’t know why, but all the more extreme moments are related to water: rafting in an extremely fast river where I almost drowned, jumping from high cliffs on an island… I barely made it out again.

I have tried several extreme experiences, but I am afraid of heights. Last year I tried rock climbing and caving, but it was still quite difficult for me.

Your top 3 goals in professional life for the next 10 years

  1. To become an expert within the company and in my field
  2. Develop specific new skills
  3. I want to find a mentor and also be a mentor – this is very inspiring for me
