Interview
How many languages do you speak? Please write them in a list. Which is your mother tongue?
I speak English and Filipino (my mother tongue).
What is your favorite sport or hobby in your free time? Why is it so? Any interesting stories on it?
I go from one hobby to another — in 2022 I was obsessed with cooking and baking, in 2023 with building mechanical keyboards and collecting blind box figures, and in early 2024 with Korean skincare.
But my one constant is my love for traditional art. I always find time to draw; I won’t say I’m good at it, though (I’ll leave that up to your discretion~~).
Top 3 things we don’t know about you? Might be something funny, quirky or strange 🙂
- I’m 4′ 11″ (a good ~150 cm) tall.
- I am hugely introverted, but I become a little more lively and outgoing when with friends and family.
- I love random doodling and sketching. These help me practice my craft.
What was the most surprising thing you learned about Asia while working here?
I love the cultural heritages of Asian countries and admire how Asians take pride in their roots while embracing the opportunity to explore other cultures.
Favorite book or a book that changed your mindset and why it did?
Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan.
The multitude of themes in this YA Fiction book has deeply resonated with me, and Willow’s journey through life amidst loss has inspired me to just keep pushing forward.
Your most extreme experience so far in your life/biggest challenge in your life?
One of the greatest challenges I face is overcoming my shyness. I still feel anxious before and after calls, and I tend to avoid them whenever possible.
Your top 3 goals in professional life for the next 10 years
- If given the opportunity, I would dive into creative fields such as marketing, photography, and digital arts to make better use of my passions.
- Given the recent rapid advancements in AI, I aim to further my understanding and incorporate its use into my daily tasks, ultimately streamlining linguistic work and project management.
- Finally, I simply wish to become a better manager — one who can easily create meaningful connections with colleagues, understand clients’ and businesses’ needs at a deeper level, and accept criticism while transforming it into motivation and inspiration for self-improvement.
